Katy Parrott completed the legendary Marathon des Sables in April 2026, taking on an extraordinary 270km journey across the Sahara Desert over six gruelling stages. Carrying everything she needed for the entire week on her back, her pack started at 9.5kgs before adding water, containing all food, a sleeping bag, sleeping mat, spare clothes, medical kit and essential supplies. Competitors were required to carry a minimum of 2000 calories per day while enduring extreme conditions, including temperatures reaching highs of 36°C. The toughest challenges came from the relentless soft sand and  fierce sandstorms, which tested both physical endurance and mental resilience throughout the race.

One of the most demanding moments of the event was the iconic 100km long 4th stage completed in one continuous effort, pushing runners far beyond their comfort zones. Despite the harsh environment, Katy embraced every moment of the adventure, sharing a Bedouin-style tent each night with eight strangers who quickly became part of the unforgettable experience. From the endless dunes to the camaraderie formed in the desert, the Marathon des Sables proved to be the experience of a lifetime. Katy loved every minute of it, thriving on the challenge, the adventure and the incredible sense of achievement that came with crossing the finish line.
